March 19, 2015 | Americus, GA – The Cancer Coalition of South Georgia is pleased to host its first annual Americus Night for Hope on Friday, May 15. All proceeds from the event will stay here in our area and be used to help local residents through the Cancer Coalition’s programs and services.

The special evening includes wine and beer, heavy hors d’oeuvres, dessert, silent auction, and live musical entertainment by Martin L. Mathis. Held at The Lee Council House, it will begin at 6:30 in the evening.

This is the community’s opportunity to invest in the local fight against cancer by attending the event, sponsoring and providing donated auction items or services. Tickets are $35 each and may be purchased online at www.sgacancer.org or locally at Citizens Bank (Tripp Street), The Kinnebrew Co. or Minick Interiors.

“Night for Hope has become a much anticipated event in other towns in our region and we are thrilled to now bring it to Sumter County,” said Diane Fletcher, Cancer Coalition CEO. “Guests will have a delightful time while knowing they are supporting an important local cause.” Retired Coalition board members Billie Gatewood and Dr. Gatewood Dudley, as well as current Board Secretary/Treasurer Shelly Sullivan, are enthusiastic about the Cancer Coalition’s work, and they encourage residents to become part of the local effort against cancer.

Unlike national organizations, 100% of every dollar raised stays in our area and is used to help the Cancer Coalition provide local services, education, research and outreach. For example, the Coalition’s Community Cancer Screening Program has been providing lifesaving health navigation and screenings for Sumter County residents since 2010, with 114 local men and women screened to date, and continuing. Over the past few years, Americus residents also have been able to participate in vital cancer prevention and survivorship research projects brought to the community by the Cancer Coalition. The Coalition’s work ensures that you all are represented and that your voices are heard. In addition, other Cancer Coalition education, outreach and patient/family support programs have benefited – and continue to benefit – the people of Americus and the entire county. The funds raised during Night for Hope will directly help the Coalition in continuing these essential programs that serve your families, friends, workforce and neighbors, right here.

Cancer Coalition officials are seeking sponsorships as well as auction donations. Please contact Jennifer Johnston at 229-312-1700 or [email protected]. For tickets or more information, please call 229-312-1700 or visit www.sgacancer.org.
