March 28, 2016 | Americus, GA – The Cancer Coalition of South Georgia is pleased to host its second annual Americus Night for Hope on Thursday, May 5. All proceeds from the event will stay here in our area and be used to help local residents through the Cancer Coalition’s programs and services.

The special evening includes wine and beer, heavy hors d’oeuvres, dessert, silent auction, and live musical entertainment. Held at The Lee Council House, it will begin at 6:30 in the evening.

This is the community’s opportunity to invest in the local fight against cancer by attending the event, sponsoring, and donating auction items or services. Tickets are $40 each and may be purchased online at www.sgacancer.org or locally at Citizens Bank (Tripp Street), The Kinnebrew Co. or Minick Interiors.

“Night for Hope has become a much anticipated event in other towns in our region and we are thrilled to hold it once again in Sumter County,” said Diane Fletcher, Cancer Coalition CEO. “Guests will enjoy a delightful evening while knowing they are supporting an important local cause.” Retired Coalition board members Billie Gatewood and Shelly Sullivan are enthusiastic about the Cancer Coalition’s work, and they encourage other residents to join the fight against our high rates of cancer.

Unlike national organizations, 100% of every dollar raised stays in our area and is used to help the Cancer Coalition provide services, education, research and outreach. For example, since 2010, we have provided lifesaving health navigation and cancer screenings for hundreds of Sumter County residents. We have also brought new cancer prevention and survivorship research studies to the community so men and women here can participate and be represented. In addition, the Cancer Coalition’s many education, outreach, and patient/family support programs have benefited – and continue to benefit – the people of Americus and the entire county. The funds raised during Night for Hope will directly help the Coalition in continuing these essential programs that serve your families, friends, workforce and neighbors, right here.

Fletcher stated, “We are grateful to our corporate partners Keystone Foods/Equity Group, Southeastern Credit Union, DOCO Credit Union, Georgia Power and Regions Bank; to our presenting sponsor, Phoebe Sumter Medical Center; and to our other sponsors to date: AfterHours Care of Americus, Inc. and Louis A. Riccardi DDS PC. We look forward to more local businesses and individuals coming forward to support Night for Hope.”
