March 29, 2018 – The Cancer Coalition of South Georgia will host its fourth annual Night for Hope fundraising gala on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in the Valdosta State University Student Union Ballroom. The Cancer Coalition continues its local fight against cancer, now under the new name of Horizons Community Solutions.
The 2018 gala proudly honors local cancer survivor Mrs. Sue Cox. The elegant, formal celebration includes a plated dinner, live and silent auctions, and live musical entertainment.
The community is invited to support the local fight against cancer by attending the event, sponsoring the event, or providing auction items. You also may place a memorial/honorarium for a loved one or a business ad in the program booklet. Different from national cancer organizations, every penny donated to the Cancer Coalition stays here to help our community.
Ms. Sue Cox, owner and operator of Covington’s Dining & Catering and 306 North Restaurant, is a beloved and highly-respected member of the Valdosta community. Ms. Cox serves as chairman of the Central Valdosta Development Authority, a member of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce, as well as an Advisory Committee Member of the new Culinary Arts Program at Valdosta Technical College.
Concerned about our area’s high cancer rates, she strongly supports Horizons Community Solutions’ ongoing work through its Cancer Coalition of South Georgia. We likewise are very pleased to have Mrs. Sue Cox share her story as our 2018 honoree.
Cancer Coalition CEO Cynthia George said, “We are thrilled to have this highly respected member of the Valdosta community as our 2018 Night for Hope honoree! I challenge everyone to become involved, so we can exceed our fundraising goals and continue our local, lifesaving work against cancer.”
George stated, “We are grateful to our corporate partners DOCO Credit Union, Georgia CEO, Georgia Power, Keystone Foods/Equity Group, and Southeastern Credit Union, and to the event’s sponsors thus far: Ace Electric Inc., Best Buddies Club, Inc., CJB Industries, Colson Business Systems, Inc., ENT & Allergy Associates of South Georgia, Farmers and Merchant Bank, First State Bank, Fresh Beginnings, Joseph and Jenny Johnson, Merry Jo and Tom Kurrie, Southern Pediatric Clinic, Southwest Georgia Bank, Thacker Dermatology, and Bill and Susan Whitfield.
